Executive Director Search

We’re seeking an Executive Director to collaborate with clergy, professional staff and lay leadership in growing our income budget and expanding our religious, educational, social and spiritual services to our Temple community. This individual will report to the President of the Congregation as well as the President of the Temple Israel Foundation. This position will work closely with Clergy as these roles are a partnership of equals.

The Executive Director will provide day-to-day management of the Temple’s fiscal and administrative affairs, including supervision and performance management of non-clergy personnel and non-employee positions, including volunteers and out-sourced resources. They’ll connect congregants, clergy, lay leaders, volunteers, committee chairs and the various diverse communities that reflect the life of the congregation. They’ll work closely with clergy and other committee heads to oversee administrative, programmatic, and marketing activities to advance Temple Israel’s mission and strategic vision. The Board will look to them for leadership in expanding our fundraising capabilities.

The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the Temple meets its revenue goal each year while making sure expenses are in line with the annual budget passed by the Board. This will include the Congregational operating budget as well as the Temple Israel Foundation’s long-term fundraising goals and management of burial plots and cemetery relationships. This individual will be an integral part of creating and coordinating security plans and be an active member of the security committee.

The ideal candidate should have the following experience:

  • Budgeting and strategic planning
  • Track record of fundraising and donor stewardship
  • Operations
  • Community relations for non-profits
  • Effective leadership experience
  • Working with staff and volunteer committees
  • Partnering with peers in the workplace
  • Work efficiently as a team with a small staff
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and a working understanding of Reform Judaism.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Several years’ experience in an Executive Director role or similar capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a partnership and collaborative structure
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of various software platforms, including Office, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and various social media
