$10,000 Granted! The 2019 WRJ Central Ohio Tzedakah Collective

Our 2019 WRJ Central Ohio Tzedakah Collective’s final meeting of the year was held in December. We met in homes and synagogues throughout the year, exploring local organizations that restore human dignity. There were 40 members representing all three Central Ohio Reform synagogues, as well as several unaffiliated members. Each woman donated a minimum of $60 for the year, which was combined to make larger, more impactful grants.

The organizations discussed included Joseph’s Coat (an interfaith non-profit aiding families by offering free clothing, furniture and household items), Growlers Dog Biscuits (a non-profit whose goal is to provide adults with disabilities viable employment and vocational opportunities), Foster Action Ohio (a specialized arm of the non-profit Ohio Children’s Alliance that is dedicated to improving outcomes for current and former foster care youth), and The Harmony Project (a non-profit that connects people across social divides through the arts, education, and volunteer community service.)

After a discussion and vote, the Tzedakah Collective made the following grants:
- Foster Action Ohio - $1500
- Growlers Dog Biscuits - $500
- Joseph’s Coat - $500
- The Harmony Project - $500

With these newest grants, our group has now donated over $10,000 to organizations whose missions embrace our Reform Jewish values.
